Landed in Toronto on Sunday night, and it is only today that the jetlag has somewhat receded. I was flying Air Canada; the plane was old, the flight attendants were depressed. Next time I'll fly El Al. I always order vegetarian and supplement with my own food, but this time I forgot to bring my own stuff, and was stuck with the airline's uninspiring veggie meal, which was about enough for a small bird.

Went to this gym today. Had a good Day I: Chest session. Two main challenges: one, not having incremental weights that are small enough for my needs. For example, dbs go up from 25lbs to 30lbs, and I could really have used a 27.5lbs set. Two, having to start thinking in lbs again after thinking in kgs for two years.

I just noticed you visited my blog today. Maybe by accident. I would understand your dutch isn't like it should be ;)

I like your blog. And I realy like to know how you feel about being out of Israel at this moment.

I will link you in my weblog. If you disagree, I will remove it. Hope to read more of you soon.

Heh. Wait until you get to Kansas, that's even MORE unmetric than Canada.

I have some magnets I stick to my dumbbells when I need a small increment. They're almost 1.5 pounds (that's 0.68 kg, girlie). I have four, so that gives me some flexibility. But I'm afraid to use them for over-my-head lifts, they're not entirely secure.

You had a 27.5 lb dumbbell? I've wanted that.

Thinking in pounds again? Resist the temptation! Apart from anything else, it's just easier to think in terms of a plate weighing 5,10,15,20 etc.

Good to see you safely on the other side.

Anton - First, I think that when someone puts up a web page, they are agreeing to be linked by anyone who feels like linking them. That's what the web is all about. Second, I just clicked through to your blog from the comment, so whomever it was that visited the other day was not me. Maybe someone was visiting my blog and then clicked "next blog" on the Blogger bar.
Now, as far as being out of Israel: I hate it. I'd rather be there right now, and if I hadn't made a commitment to teach at a school that starts mid-August, I would not have left. I can't wait to go back and I will as soon as I save up enough money for a plane ticket and have some vacation, which will probably be next summer.

Mar!a: The magnets are a great idea. I'm going to get Platemates when I get to KS. But I see what you mean... I wouldn't want something hard and metallic falling on my head when doing presses. :-)

Bud - the dbs at the gym in Israel were adjustable. I could add 1.25Kg plate or a 750g collar to one or both sides. Made life much easier. The dbs here in Canada are solid and non-adjustable.

Scott - I agree. I prefer Kgs. Two of the machines I used yesterday had labels with both Kgs and lbs, but the plates are labelled in lbs only.
